Anthropic announced on Friday (2) the creation of the Claude Frontier Academy, an initiative backed by an initial investment of US$ 100 million to train 10,000 engineers specialized in putting artificial intelligence systems into production within large companies by the end of 2027.

The program will focus on the so-called Frontier Deployed Engineers, or FDEs, professionals who combine software development with the deployment of AI in organizations' internal systems, data and processes. The first cohorts already include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley, Novo Nordisk and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

The initiative seeks to tackle one of the main obstacles encountered by Anthropic in corporate AI adoption: the lack of professionals capable of transforming experiments with models into systems effectively integrated into companies' operations.

The first cohorts are being held in San Francisco, New York and London. Participation takes place through referrals by the organizations themselves, which must select engineers with experience in software development and the use of large language models. Previous experience building AI agents is not required.

Each participant also enters the program with a project involving Claude that they are expected to later lead within their company.

Training combines intensive training and a real project

The first stage involves four in-person days. During the first three, participants work on a simulated Claude deployment, going through use case definition, integration, security review and system delivery. On the fourth day, they are evaluated in a new scenario.

Those who pass receive the Claude Resident Engineer credential and go on to a 12-week residency, in which they lead a real implementation within their own organization with support from Anthropic engineers and cohort monitoring.

At the end of the period, a new practical assessment determines who receives the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer. Anthropic expects to award the first credentials in early 2027.

The Frontier Academy expands a training structure that the company already maintains for its corporate ecosystem. According to Anthropic, professionals from 46,000 companies have already obtained more than 175,000 certifications related to Claude, while nearly 4,000 people have completed the Basecamp program.

The goal of 10,000 FDEs will be pursued until the end of 2027. The company also plans to announce additional Claude Frontier Academy programs over the next year.
