DeepSeek launched the DeepSeek Harness on Thursday (13), a tool that marks the company's turn toward agentic artificial intelligence (AI), focusing on agents capable of operating software and executing complex tasks autonomously.
The launch represents a strategic shift: the company is now building digital infrastructure for AI agents, systems that use models to operate external software, run code, and complete complex tasks. Tools like the Harness become an essential layer in AI systems, shifting global competition from model intelligence to the integration of agents with real applications.
Four operating modes
The DeepSeek Harness offers four configurations to meet different demands from companies and developers: a standard mode for general tasks; a code-focused mode, with the AI writing commands to trigger several applications at the same time; a creative mode, which allows experimenting with custom tools; and a minimal mode, for isolated tests.
