Playground Games confirmed this Thursday (8) that Forza Horizon 6 will arrive on PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027, delaying the release originally planned for this year. The new date applies to the Standard and Deluxe editions, while buyers of the Premium version will be able to start playing on January 21, five days earlier. The debut will also mark the arrival of the shared progression system between PS5, Xbox and Steam.

The port is being developed by Panic Button, also responsible for the Forza Horizon 5 version for Sony's console, in collaboration with Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios. Preorders are already available on the PlayStation Store, and the game will also have physical media distribution.

The PS5 release will take place months after the debut on Xbox and PC platforms, which have already received the title set in Japan. The new version will feature graphics modes of 4K at 30 frames per second, prioritizing visual quality, and performance at 60 frames per second.

PS5 will have shared saves and a paid expansion at launch

One of the main confirmations is simultaneous support for cross-play and cross-save. Players will be able to take part in matches with users from other platforms and keep their progress when switching between PlayStation 5, Xbox and Steam.

Sharing will also encompass community-created content. From launch, PS5 users will have access to custom races in EventLab, garages, properties, paint jobs and vehicle setups created by players on other platforms.

Another important point involves the additional content schedule. The first Premium expansion will be released on January 21, 2027 for all platforms, coinciding with the start of early access on PS5.

The expansion will be included in the Premium, Premium Upgrade and Expansions Bundle editions, but it will not be distributed for free to all players. Owners of other editions will be able to purchase it separately. The Premium Upgrade will also allow buyers of the Standard or Deluxe versions to have access to the benefits of the higher edition.

Playground Games also confirmed a free content update for all players in the same period. Unlike the paid expansion, this update will be available regardless of the edition purchased. Its features have not yet been detailed.

As a pre-order incentive, all PS5 editions will include a pre-configured Ferrari J50, unlocked after completing the prologue. The developer should present more information about the free update as the January debut approaches.
