Google Cloud announced on Tuesday (25) the Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a version of its artificial intelligence platform aimed at law firms and legal departments. The tool is initially available in preview and combines AI agents, integrations with legal systems, and resources to automate tasks such as contract review, legal research, and regulatory monitoring.
The platform was developed to run complete legal workflows, preserving the permissions and access controls already adopted by organizations. Among the first clients are teams from the law firms Cleary Gottlieb, Freshfields, Weil and Williams & Connolly.
Gemini connects to systems used by lawyers
Gemini Enterprise for Legal uses connectors based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to access external systems and databases without bypassing the permission rules defined by each organization.
The list of integrations includes iManage, NetDocuments, DocuSign, Everlaw, RelativityOne and Thomson Reuters HighQ, in addition to platforms specialized in legal AI, such as Harvey and Legora. There is also support for Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
According to Google, the connectors maintain controls such as document-level permissions, user roles, and internal barriers between teams. Client data, files, internal instructions, and AI-generated results remain in the organization's private environment and are not used to train Google's foundational models.
Available features include contract review and negotiation, drafting NDAs, legal research, citation verification, monitoring regulatory changes, and responding to requests for access to personal data.
The tool can also analyze contracts against internal company rules to identify clauses considered higher-risk and potential exposure points before a lawyer's review.
Google expands its sector-specific AI offering
The product also brings together agents developed by partners. Deloitte, for example, offers tools to summarize contracts and review clauses, while other integrators can develop customized workflows on the platform.
Gemini Enterprise for Legal is part of a new Google Cloud strategy to offer versions of Gemini adapted to specific sectors. The company simultaneously launched a solution for financial services and said it plans to expand the approach to areas such as healthcare and life sciences.
