Embracer Group announced that the Gothic 1 remake sold more than 500,000 copies in the 1st week, contributing to the 68% growth in revenue from PC and console games in the 1st quarter of the fiscal year.
The game's performance, released in the quarter, allowed the company to quickly recover production and marketing costs. The result also helped the group return to profitability and record a significant increase in revenues.
Upcoming releases
The company is preparing releases for the coming months, including Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War IV, Metro 2039 and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. The success of the remake also paves the way for a version of Gothic 2.
