IGN reported that Grand Theft Auto (GTA) fans have raised more than US$50,000 for Jerry, a 25-year-old man who needs a lung transplant. The GoFundMe campaign was created by his guardian, Paris Fort, after Jerry posted a video on TikTok saying he wanted to play GTA 6.
Jerry, who goes by the name Void Only on TikTok, has suffered from interstitial lung disease since he was 17. In a video, he appeared with an oxygen tube and said he was "at the end of the line." "I'll stay in the ICU until I get a transplant," he said. He explained that his lungs are adhered to his chest wall, which makes the surgery "very bloody and dangerous."
Campaign exceeds goal
The initial goal was US$15,000 to help the family get through the year. The GoFundMe page had already counted more than US$53,000 in donations. The money should also help cover the long postoperative recovery period.
In a new video, recorded over the weekend, Jerry thanked the number of messages and donations. "I didn't expect so much love," he said, with his eyes full of tears. He also promised that, if he survives the surgery, he will do a GTA 6 stream as soon as the game is released, on November 19, 2026. The game's Extended Look presentation is scheduled for Netflix later this month.
