Sony announced this Thursday (12) that Helldivers 2 has joined the PlayStation Plus on-demand game catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers. The arrival is accompanied by update 7.0.0, titled Devoid of Liberty, and the legendary Warbond Castellan's Creed, in collaboration with Warhammer 40,000.
The manufacturer described the game as "one of the most popular PlayStation 5 games of all time." Launched in early 2024, Helldivers 2 still holds the record for the fastest-selling game from PlayStation Studios.
"Players continue to recognize the value of PlayStation Plus and an ever-evolving Game Catalog with strong content specially selected for the PlayStation community," said Mary Yee, senior vice president of marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment. "With the addition of Helldivers 2, a game already enjoyed by millions of players around the world, we are further strengthening the value of PlayStation Plus and creating more opportunities for members to discover and engage with exceptional games."
As of August 9, 2026, Helldivers had more than 22.9 million players across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, according to Sony. The company said the service arrival should drive an "expected influx of new players," allowing newcomers to experience the dynamic cooperative gameplay alongside veterans and expand the fan base.
Devoid of Liberty update and crossover
Update 7.0.0 ushers in a horror narrative arc with "the first signs of a nightmare threat emerging from a mysterious void in the galaxy." The opening chapter takes players into the void, where mutant Illuminate organisms begin to appear on battlefields. As the story unfolds, the void transforms everything it touches, creating a new biome and turning familiar enemies into horrifying forms.
Also available is the legendary Warbond Castellan's Creed, the crossover with Warhammer 40,000. The PlayStation Plus catalog continues with The Last of Us Part I, God of War Ragnarök, and Ghost of Tsushima.
In parallel, the Helldivers film adaptation, produced by Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, is scheduled for release on November 10, 2027. Jason Momoa recently left the project.
