Kotaku reported that CD Projekt Red laid off 18 employees from Project Sirius, the multiplayer spinoff of The Witcher. The Polish developer confirmed the cuts, which affect about a quarter of the project's team.

According to the company, half of those affected were let go, while the other half were invited to take part in internal selection processes for other CD Projekt Red projects.

Another cut in the project

This is the 2nd time Project Sirius has undergone team reductions. In 2023, the project went through a restart that had already trimmed the team. The game was announced in 2022, and the original developer, The Molasses Flood, was acquired by CD Projekt Red in 2021 and fully absorbed in 2025.

The Project Sirius layoffs come amid a wave of cuts in the gaming industry. Last week, Supermassive Games held its 3rd round of layoffs in three years, That's No Moon dismissed 14 people right after announcing a new game, and Halo Studios laid off veteran contractors.

Also last week, unionized Bethesda workers protested against a Microsoft plan to cut up to 3,200 employees.
