Data from Ampere Analysis released on August 12 by journalist Christopher Dring shows that physical copies of Resident Evil Requiem accounted for 55% of sales in France and 51% in Japan, while in the United States the share was 22%.
The survey comes amid Sony's plan to completely abandon physical media by 2028. Capcom recently stated that 90% of its game sales are digital, but the new title's numbers indicate that demand for discs is still relevant in several markets.
Regional sales and total copies
In the United Kingdom, discs accounted for 40% of sales; in Australia, 43%. Of the more than 7 million copies of Resident Evil Requiem sold so far, at least 2 million were in physical format. At the time of launch, disc versions sold out in stores in several regions.
