On Tuesday (29), Microsoft announced the Mythic Achievements, a new category of Xbox achievements awarded to players who complete all the original challenges of a title. The new feature began rolling out to participants in the Xbox Insider program and also recognizes previously completed games, including Xbox 360 titles.

The system works similarly to PlayStation's Platinum trophies. To receive the recognition, all you have to do is unlock all the achievements available in a game's original release. Additional content and later updates are not included in the calculation, and the Mythic status remains even if new achievements are added.

One of the main changes is retroactive application. Players who have already completed eligible titles will be able to find the new recognitions on their profiles, without having to repeat challenges or play again.

Xbox overhauls profiles and achievement tracking

The new feature arrives accompanied by interface changes. Profiles now include a Gaming tab, which brings together achievement history, completed games and progress toward the next Gamerscore milestones, Xbox's scoring system.

Mythic Achievements receive their own visual identity in the history, making it possible to identify completed titles. It will also be possible to check friends' profiles and view the recognitions earned by other players.

The achievement lists gained a progress bar dedicated to Mythic status, accompanied by filters that highlight the original challenges still pending. Achievements introduced later will be identified separately.

Microsoft also incorporated this information into the Xbox guide and the achievement detail screens, making it easier to track during gameplay.

For now, the features are available for testing in Xbox Insider. The company has not yet announced a date for general distribution to other players.
