Hetzner is a German infrastructure provider offering Hetzner Cloud virtual servers, often searched for as VPS, alongside dedicated servers and storage.
What it does
- Hosts websites, APIs, databases and long-running services on virtual servers.
- Provides exclusive physical hardware through its dedicated server range.
How Hetzner Cloud differs from dedicated servers
You provision and manage Cloud servers through the Console, API or CLI. Cloud plans offer shared or dedicated vCPUs. Dedicated vCPUs still belong to a cloud instance; they do not give you an entire physical machine. Dedicated Root Servers are the separate physical server product.
Hetzner USA locations
US Cloud regions are Ashburn, Virginia (ash), and Hillsboro, Oregon (hil). Other locations are Falkenstein and Nuremberg in Germany, Helsinki in Finland, and Singapore. The US and Singapore locations offer cloud products, but do not offer Dedicated Root Servers.
Public pricing
- Cloud servers use hourly billing with a monthly cap. A powered-off instance is still billed until you delete it.
- Prices depend on the region, plan and currency. Budget for IPv4, backups and traffic overages; the June 2026 adjustment table excludes VAT and IPv4. Check the current table and Console before ordering.
- Dedicated server pricing depends on the configuration. The catalog and Server Auction are separate ways to order.

Points of attention
- Instance availability varies by location and product line.
- Traffic between different network zones is billed; included traffic is not unlimited.
- A server’s monthly cap does not automatically cover additional resources.
