A Nuance Labs, founded by three former Apple researchers, raised US$ 50 million in a Series A round to develop an artificial intelligence model capable of processing audio and video simultaneously during a conversation.
The round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from Accel and NVentures, an investment arm of Nvidia. With a seed investment of US$ 10 million received in 2025, the startup has already raised about US$ 60 million.
The company was founded by Fangchang Ma, Edward Zhang and Karren Yang, who previously worked at Apple. Ma and Zhang also participated in the development of technologies related to the Digital Persona of Apple Vision Pro.
Nuance's proposal is to use a single architecture to interpret voice, images and signals such as tone of voice, facial expressions and hesitations, instead of relying on separate systems for each type of information.
The technology is still in development and does not have a commercial product. The company intends to present a research preview still in 2026 while expanding its research and engineering team.
