Onchain monitoring platform Whale Alert revealed that an Ethereum (ETH) Genesis-era wallet moved 2,680 ETH, valued at US$ 5.03 million, on Tuesday, August 11. The address had remained inactive for 11 years, and the tokens, purchased for US$ 830 at the time, appreciated by 605,924%.
In addition to this transaction, Whale Alert detected three other Genesis wallet transfers in 2026: 2,000 ETH on August 8, 2,000 ETH on July 20, and 2,000 ETH on July 26. In total, four addresses transferred 8,680 ETH between July and August.
Destination of Assets
According to data from Arkham Intelligence, the 2,000 ETH transfer made on August 8 ended up at the exchange Coinbase. Another, from July 20, was sent to Coinjar, an Australian exchange. The July 26 transfer was split among several addresses.
Genesis Era Context
Genesis-era ETH refers to coins acquired during the presale of the Ethereum network, which began on July 22, 2014. In the crowdsale, each token was sold for US$ 0.31. The network pre-mined about 72 million ETH, of which approximately 60 million were sold to the public, raising 31,591 BTC.
The remaining 12 million ETH were split equally: 6 million for the founders and early contributors and 6 million for the Ethereum Foundation. On Tuesday, ether was trading at US$ 1,883.66, according to Whale Alert.
