How to Fish, cooperative game from Dazed Games that mixes fishing, combat, and absurd situations, surpassed 142,000 concurrent players on Steam. According to data from SteamDB, the title also maintains around 94% positive reviews on the platform.
The premise starts simply. After a boat trip marked by drinking, up to four players end up stranded on an island and need to earn money to get back home. The solution is fishing — but the game quickly turns the activity into something far less conventional.
Fishing with weapons and islands to explore
In addition to using traditional equipment, players can strike or shoot fish, sell their catches, and invest the money in new weapons and equipment.
Progress unlocks other islands, missions, and boss battles. It's also possible to look for rare fish variations and perform special throws that increase rewards.
The game also includes betting tables that work exclusively with virtual currency. There, players can risk their own caught fish in search of bigger gains.
Seagulls become a threat to players
Seagulls are one of the most unpredictable elements of How to Fish. The birds can be shot down and prepared as food, but they also attack the characters.
In some situations, they manage to grab a player, lift them off the ground, and carry them across the scene, creating situations that can end in death. The mechanic has made the birds one of the most recognizable threats among players.
Available for PC via Steam, How to Fish can be played solo or in online co-op for up to four people. The project has support from Evil Landfall, a team linked to the creators of Peak, and bets on the same combination of cooperation and unpredictable situations that helped other recent titles, such as R.E.P.O., to gain space on Steam.
