Meccha Chameleon's developer announced this Wednesday (12) in a Steam post that the game surpassed 20 million copies sold since its launch, two months ago.
The announcement thanks players for their support. The title, an indie hide-and-seek game, sold 15 million units in month one; the other 5 million came in month two.
Audience
According to SteamDB data, Meccha Chameleon maintains a daily audience of around 22,000 players, although the peak of concurrent players has fallen compared to June. The game is also among the most played in the United States on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
The studio continues to release regular updates; the most recent arrived yesterday (11).
Setbacks
Within a 24-hour period, user-created maps contained malware and the official Discord server was also breached. The developer resolved both issues.
The success comes from the simple mechanics: players paint themselves to camouflage in the setting in a hide-and-seek battle, which attracted streamers and fans of cooperative games.
