Hello Games announced this Monday (12) that No Man’s Sky will be released for iPhone and iPad on October 28, 2026. The version for Apple devices will bring together more than 40 major updates released since 2016, but it will arrive without multiplayer support and with restrictions for certain features.
The game is already available for pre-order on the App Store and can be tried for free at launch. The developer states that the adaptation preserves the universe and the main expansions of the original version, including Voyagers, which introduced the construction of large custom ships.
Multiplayer absent and restricted settlements: what changes on iPhone
Although it brings together a decade of content, the iOS edition will have important differences compared to the PC and console versions. Multiplayer will not be supported, while planetary settlements will be available only on iPhone 15 Pro or higher models.
The restriction contrasts with the general requirements announced by Hello Games, which forecasts compatibility starting with the iPhone 11 and the 3rd-generation iPad Air. This means that devices capable of running the game will not necessarily have access to all features.
The developer has not set a date for adding multiplayer. The studio stated that it will monitor player reception and decide how to expand support for the mobile version.
Another aspect of the adaptation is the size of the application. Despite the accumulated expansions, No Man’s Sky will take up less than 4 GB, according to Hello Games. The US App Store listing specifies 3.8 GB.
The company attributes the reduced size to the procedural generation of the universe, which creates environments during the game's execution, instead of storing all of its elements in advance.
The touch controls have been rebuilt to accommodate exploration, piloting, vehicles and inventory management. There will also be support for external controllers and streaming to televisions, as well as keyboard and mouse on iPad.
Free trial and unlock through a one-time purchase
The mobile version will adopt a free trial model. Players will be able to access the beginning of the adventure without paying, but will need to make a one-time purchase to unlock the full content.
On the United States App Store, the unlock is listed at US$ 19.99. The store also sets iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 as the minimum operating system requirement.
There is also a discrepancy in the announced dates: both Hello Games and Apple officially announced the launch for October 28, but the US App Store listing shows October 29 as the expected date. The difference was not clarified in the statements consulted.
