Nintendo and The Pokémon Company announced that Pokémon Pokopia has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide, combining physical and digital editions, in just over four months since launch.
Popularity on Switch 2
Considering the more than 20 million Switch 2 units sold as of May 2026, the number indicates that approximately one in four console owners has the game. The title, developed by the team behind Dragon Quest Builders, is co-published by Nintendo and Koei Tecmo.
The performance places Pokopia ahead of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which sold 3.99 million units in its Switch 2 edition, despite the game's total on the original Switch surpassing that of the spin-off. Among the new console's software, only Mario Kart World has higher sales, with 15.39 million copies.
Recent expansion
The numbers were boosted by the debut of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, whose first part, Bubbly Basin, was released this week as paid content. The expansion adds an underwater city, new Pokémon, furniture, and recipes.
