ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) opened this Tuesday (25) the pre-order of the ROG Xbox Ally X20, a special edition of the handheld created to mark the brand's 20 years. The device costs US$ 1,299 in the standalone version and will arrive in stores on October 15.
The new model features a 7.4-inch OLED with ROG's Nebula HDR technology and an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor. The design uses a translucent black external structure, which leaves part of the internal components visible, with gold details.
The edition references the creation of Republic of Gamers in 2006 and also incorporates a revamped cooling system. ASUS did not detail, in the announcement, battery life numbers or performance comparisons with other models in the line.
Complete bundle costs US$ 2,499
In addition to the handheld sold separately, ROG has put up for pre-order a bundle for US$ 2,499 that includes the Xbox Ally X20, the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 glasses, a Killswitch case from dbrand, a 68W charger, and a customized Pelican case.
The augmented reality glasses use micro-OLED panels of 240 Hz and simulate a 171-inch screen viewed at a distance of four meters. The accessory offers a 57-degree field of view, 0.01 ms response time, and an audio system from Bose.
The device has motion tracking in three degrees of freedom, allowing the image to follow head movements. An additional mode keeps the virtual screen fixed in one position during use.
The connection to the handheld is made via a single USB-C cable. ASUS stated that both the ROG Xbox Ally X20 and the XREAL R1 Edition 20 glasses can be purchased separately, but it did not disclose the individual price of the glasses in the announcement.
