Cursor announced it has been officially acquired by SpaceX, with the transaction completed on Friday (14). The deal closes the process initiated in April, when the companies announced the partnership with SpaceXAI to accelerate model training.
With the acquisition, Cursor said it will have access to the world's largest GPU fleet. The company said this will allow it to build stronger and more economical models, offering customers more capacity at a lower cost.
In a statement, Cursor highlighted that it evolved from completing lines of code to developing 'AI colleagues' that can take on real tasks. The company said that, with SpaceX, it intends to expand this ambition, leveraging the computing infrastructure to scale intelligence 'far beyond what exists today'.
The company also cited Grok 4.6, released on Wednesday, as an initial sample of what the companies can build together. Cursor said SpaceX is expanding computing capacity to scale intelligence, and that the tool will be one of the channels for making that intelligence useful.
The goal, according to Cursor, is to help people with ambitious ideas spend less time writing code and more time solving hard problems.
