The TikTok Shop began implementing, on Friday (9), new restrictions on invitations sent by sellers to affiliate creators in the United States. The system combines a daily limit of 200 creators with weekly quotas determined by the seller's sales volume and the influencers' classification. The change also affects invitations sent by automation tools and API integrations.
The rules were detailed in official documentation published on September 30 and take effect gradually. The platform did not say when all sellers will be subject to the new limits.
Unlike a uniform messaging restriction, the new model distributes prospecting capacity according to each store's commercial performance and the level of the creators being sought.
Quotas depend on sales and include invitations sent via API
The seller classification considers the cumulative GMV over the last 30 days, an indicator that represents the gross merchandise value. Creators are divided into four groups: Bronze and Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Pearl or higher.
Each combination determines a specific weekly quota. Limits are renewed on Sundays and remain valid for seven days. The GMV recorded on Sunday is included in the calculation for the next renewal.
A relevant condition involves automation. Invitations sent via API or third-party tools consume the same weekly quota as contacts made manually through the Seller Center. Thus, using external systems does not increase the number of creators a store can invite.
The cap of 200 new recipients per day works as an additional restriction, regardless of the available weekly balance.
For new sellers, TikTok Shop offers a single initial package of up to 1,000 invitations. This balance is used before the regular weekly quota and can be eliminated in the next renewal if the seller advances in classification.
The platform also provides for additional invitations for higher-level creators when previous contacts show good engagement. These bonuses are consumed before the regular quotas.
The restrictions do not cover all forms of collaboration. The Open Collaboration program, creator recruitment, and certain connections brokered by the platform itself remain available without consuming the weekly quota of targeted invitations.
Sellers can check their limits in the collaborations area of the Seller Center. Accounts previously included in special authorization lists also now follow the standard quotas, while eligibility for exceptions remains subject to quarterly reviews.
