The Anthropic chose Nasdaq as the exchange for a possible initial public offering in the United States, according to a person familiar with the company's plans who spoke to Business Insider this Sunday (13). The developer of Claude has been preparing an IPO that could take place as early as October.
The decision on the exchange is another step in the process formally started in June, when Anthropic confidentially submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a draft of the S-1 form for an IPO. The company itself said at the time that the transaction would depend on market conditions and that the number of shares and the price had not yet been set.
The full documentation has not yet been made public. Before starting the roadshow with investors, the company will have to disclose its financial information, a step that will allow the market to more precisely assess the size and conditions of the offering.
Offering could value Anthropic at about US$ 2 trillion
Anthropic is discussing raising up to US$ 100 billion in the IPO, in a transaction that could value the company at approximately US$ 2 trillion, according to people familiar with the negotiations who spoke to Reuters. The amounts are still under discussion and could change.
Nvidia is also negotiating to participate as an anchor investor in the offering, with a contribution of up to US$ 10 billion, according to one of the sources. Anchor investors commit to acquiring part of the shares before the broader marketing of the IPO and can help support large deals.
A valuation close to US$ 2 trillion would represent a new leap for Anthropic. In May, the company raised US$ 65 billion in a round that valued it at US$ 965 billion after the investment. Its annualized revenue had surpassed US$ 65 billion at the end of July, compared with about US$ 9 billion at the end of 2025, according to data disclosed by the company and cited by Reuters.
The choice also reinforces the competition between Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange for the largest technology companies. Nasdaq already hosted SpaceX's initial public offering in 2026 and can now secure another of the most anticipated offerings in the American market. Business Insider reported that Anthropic is targeting an October listing, while sources who spoke to Reuters expect the transaction to be completed before the United States legislative elections in November.
