Anthropic is expected to postpone the public release of its IPO prospectus to the end of September and begin presenting the offering to investors only in mid-October at the earliest. The schedule change was revealed by Reuters on Friday (4), while some investors project that the company could go public valued at up to US$ 2 trillion.
The company did not confirm that valuation. The IPO, however, is already official: on June 1, Anthropic said it had confidentially submitted to the SEC, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, a preliminary version of the S-1 form for a possible initial public offering.
At the time, the creator of Claude said that the number of shares and the offering price had not yet been defined.
The public prospectus was expected in early September, but it is now expected to be presented only at the end of the month, according to people familiar with the preparations interviewed by Reuters. IPO marketing could begin in mid-October. The timeline may still change.
Valuation could more than double
A valuation of US$ 2 trillion would represent more than double the last valuation disclosed by Anthropic. In May, the company announced a round of US$ 65 billion that valued the company at US$ 965 billion after the investment.
In the same announcement, Anthropic said its annualized revenue had surpassed US$ 47 billion in May, one of the main numbers tracked by the market before a possible listing.
Financial preparations are also advancing. According to Bloomberg, the company is close to expanding a revolving credit line to US$ 15 billion, with participation from banks that are also working on the preparation of the offering, including Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and Citigroup.
If it reaches the market with a valuation close to US$ 2 trillion, Anthropic could surpass the valuation attributed to SpaceX in its debut and compete for the largest IPO ever recorded. The figure, however, remains only an investor projection and will depend on market conditions and the final terms of the offering.
