A Bitget reopened ETH withdrawals this Tuesday (29) on the Ethereum, BSC, Arbitrum One, Base and Optimism networks, advancing to the second stage of the recovery of services interrupted after the attack suffered by the exchange on September 24. Bitcoin withdrawals on the Bitcoin network had been restored on Monday (28).

The resumption follows a schedule released by Bitget itself. The next stage is scheduled for September 30, at 8 a.m. UTC, when the platform intends to release USDT withdrawals via Ethereum, BSC, Solana and Tron. Other tokens, in addition to operations involving fiat currencies and P2P, are scheduled to return on October 2.

The withdrawal freeze was adopted after the exchange's systems identified unauthorized transfers in hot and warm wallets. After reviewing the transactions, Bitget raised the estimate of assets sent to addresses controlled by the attacker from US$ 351.6 million to approximately US$ 387.5 million, including movements in Zcash and Tron that were not in the initial calculation.

According to the company, the vulnerability exploited in the attack has already been identified and fixed, and there were no new unauthorized transfers after the incident was contained. The investigation and tracking of the assets continue with support from the cybersecurity companies Mandiant and SlowMist.

Bitget states that customer balances were not affected and that its Protection Fund, with more than US$ 464 million, covers the financial impact of the incident. The suspension of withdrawals was presented by the company as a security measure while the infrastructure underwent further checks. Deposits and trading operations remained available during the process.

The gradual release will continue to be reflected directly on the platform as each asset and network goes through the planned checks. So far, BTC and ETH have advanced according to the public schedule, while USDT and the other services remain in the next stages of the recovery.
