The Dunamu, operator of the crypto exchange Upbit, announced this Friday (28) a strategic partnership with Visa to develop financial services related to stablecoins, international payments, and artificial intelligence. The companies intend to connect the South Korean company's digital asset infrastructure to Visa's global payments network.
The cooperation will also include projects of agentic commerce, a model in which AI agents can search for products and services and execute purchases and payments on behalf of the user. The companies have not yet defined specific products or a launch schedule.
Dunamu and Visa presented the partnership plan in San Francisco on Wednesday (26), local time, with the participation of the CEO of Dunamu, Oh Kyung-seok, and the global president of Visa, Oliver Jenkyn.
Stablecoins enter the global payments infrastructure
One of the main objectives of the partnership will be to evaluate ways to integrate stablecoins into payments, international remittances, and settlement systems already used in the traditional financial market.
Dunamu intends to combine its infrastructure for digital assets with Visa's payments network to study new services in different markets. The projects will be developed gradually and will depend on regulatory, technical, and commercial requirements.
Among the assets evaluated is Open USD (OUSD), a dollar stablecoin developed by Open Standard. The digital currency appears as one of the possibilities for future business models, but Dunamu has not announced its adoption as an exclusive asset of the partnership.
The company also made clear that the final structure of the services has not yet been defined. This includes product formats, launch markets, and release dates, which will be determined according to regulatory analysis and the viability of each initiative.
AI will be able to buy and pay on behalf of users
The second front of the collaboration involves the integration between artificial intelligence and stablecoin-based payment systems.
Dunamu and Visa will study the infrastructure necessary for agentic commerce, in which AI agents can search for a product or service, select an option, and complete the transaction without the user having to manually execute each step.
The partnership also provides for the development of models that combine AI, payments, and settlement with stablecoins, as well as the analysis of the technologies and infrastructure necessary to support this type of transaction.
Oh Kyung-seok stated that the expansion of AI, stablecoins, and tokenization is changing the way finance and commerce work. The executive said that cooperation with Visa seeks to connect digital assets to the existing financial system and create new global financial services.
