Grand Theft Auto VI has already accumulated approximately 7.71 million digital pre-orders, equivalent to US$ 751 million in estimated gross revenue, according to data from market analysis firm Sensor Tower released by GameSpot this Wednesday (4). The PlayStation 5 accounts for almost three quarters of pre-orders, while the game's release is set for November 19.

The estimate attributes to Sony's console 5.74 million copies and US$ 559 million, equivalent to 74% of pre-orders. Xbox Series X|S accounts for the remaining 26%, with 1.97 million units and US$ 192 million.

The numbers show an acceleration in pre-orders on the eve of the release. On October 20, the survey indicated approximately 6.45 million copies and US$ 630 million. The update represents an estimated increase of 1.26 million pre-orders and US$ 121 million in about two weeks.

The data, however, has not been confirmed by Rockstar Games or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive. Sensor Tower uses market estimates, and the figures released cover only digital pre-orders, excluding reservations made through physical retailers.

In August, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, said the company would not disclose official pre-order numbers because it believed they could lead investors to misinterpretations. The executive stressed that pre-orders can be canceled and do not necessarily equal definitive sales.

The estimated revenue also approaches the US$ 800 million raised by GTA 5 in the first 24 hours after its release, in September 2013. The comparison, however, involves different metrics: the GTA 6 figures are estimates of digital pre-orders, while its predecessor's result corresponds to sales actually made after release.

GTA 6 will be released on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar confirmed that pre-download will begin on November 10, with files that may take up to 212 GB, depending on the platform.
