The NetEase Games Club has started offering Pix in Brazil and other local payment methods in Latin American markets after striking a partnership with EBANX, announced on Monday (28). The first phase covers Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Peru.
The integration expands the payment methods available on NetEase's official top-up platform, used to buy credits and game content such as Marvel Rivals, Where Winds Meet, Once Human and Identity V. Credit and debit cards remain available.
In Brazil, the checkout now accepts Pix and Mercado Pago. In Mexico, the company added SPEI, the local bank transfer system, while players in Peru will be able to use PagoEfectivo.
Local payments expand reach beyond cards
The strategy targets a relevant characteristic of the Latin American market: only one in four adults has a credit card, while more than half of the population aged 15 or older has already made a digital payment, according to World Bank data cited by EBANX.
In Brazil, about 170 million people use Pix, equivalent to 96% of the adult population, while approximately 60 million do not have a credit card. The adoption of the system allows NetEase to reach consumers who might encounter barriers in a card-dependent checkout.
The deal also puts local payments infrastructure in a relevant market for the Chinese company. Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Peru are expected to jointly generate US$ 8.4 billion in game revenue in 2026, according to estimates from Payment and Commerce Market Intelligence analyzed by EBANX. Brazil alone is expected to account for US$ 3.8 billion.
Latin America recorded growth of 6.4% in the games market in 2025, above those of North America and Europe, according to Newzoo data cited in the announcement. The region has approximately 372 million players.
