The Nex, responsible for the motion-based gaming console Nex Playground, raised more than US$ 150 million in a transaction combining equity and debt. The funds will be used to accelerate international expansion, expand distribution and invest in new games.
The round includes a Series E led by Baillie Gifford and BAI Capital, as well as a new credit line from JPMorgan. NBA Investments, Logitech, Medici Capital Partners and Raine Group also participated.
The financing comes after the Nex Playground surpassed 1 million units sold. In the United States, the device is already available in more than 7,000 stores, while its subscriber base is approaching 1 million.
Germany enters in 2026; Japan and Korea set for 2027
Nex plans to launch the Playground in Germany as early as 2026, followed by Japan and South Korea in 2027. Other markets in Europe and Asia are also planned.
Part of the capital will be directed to the catalog, which already features more than 60 games. The company is preparing content tied to franchises such as NFL, Pac-Man, Sonic and BTS and is developing a feature to allow matches between families in different homes.
The company also announced Jeff Shouger, former CFO of Niantic, as its new chief financial officer. He and Bing Gordon, a former Electronic Arts executive, will join the board of directors.
