Tripledot Studios has acquired Supersonic from Unity for US$ 40 million. The transaction transfers the mobile games publisher to Tripledot Group, while Unity focuses its activities on other areas of the business.
Supersonic will continue to operate as an independent company within the group. The company will keep its current management team and remain based in Tel Aviv.
The company became part of Unity in 2022, when the developer completed its merger with IronSource in an all-stock transaction valued at US$ 4.4 billion.
Unity had announced plans this year to divest Supersonic after shutting down its IronSource network.
Supersonic maintains focus on game publishing
Supersonic CEO Igor Bereslavski said the integration with Tripledot will give the company access to more capital, technology, and user acquisition capabilities.
According to the executive, the transaction does not change the structure used to serve partner studios. Supersonic will continue working with the same team, tools, and operational support.
Lior Shiff, co-founder and CEO of Tripledot, said the advancement of artificial intelligence is lowering barriers to game development and shifting part of the challenge to distribution and player acquisition.
With Supersonic and Lion Studios, the group plans to increase the number of studios served and expand its presence in different markets.
Tripledot expands mobile gaming operations
The purchase is another expansion move by Tripledot. Last year, the company acquired AppLovin's mobile games business for US$ 800 million.
The transaction added ten studios to the group and expanded its presence in markets such as the United States and Asia.
The sale of Supersonic comes as Unity steers its strategy toward its game development engine and the Vector platform, which focuses on advertising and user acquisition with artificial intelligence features.
