UPS has signed an exclusive agreement with TikTok Shop to offer box-free and label-free returns to participating sellers in the United States. The partnership, announced this Tuesday (29), uses Happy Returns' infrastructure to simplify the return of products purchased through the platform.
Consumers will be able to take eligible items to about 10,000 Return Bar locations. At these locations, products are scanned, packaged and grouped into larger shipments before they head to processing centers.
The service will be available to participating sellers both when they handle fulfillment themselves and when they use TikTok Shop's logistics infrastructure. For the consumer, the process can be started through the app and use a QR code, eliminating in certain cases the need to print a label or prepare a box for shipping.
Online returns already move hundreds of billions of dollars
The partnership places UPS in an area of growing importance in e-commerce: reverse logistics. Retail returns totaled approximately US$ 850 billion in 2025, while nearly 20% of online sales end up being returned, according to data from the National Retail Federation cited by Reuters. The cost of processing a return can amount to, on average, 27% of the product's value.
In addition to shipment consolidation, Happy Returns uses artificial intelligence tools and physical verification to identify suspicious returns before the release of certain refunds. For TikTok Shop sellers, the expectation is to reduce fraud and speed up the return of products to inventory.
The agreement expands TikTok Shop's after-sales structure at a time when the platform seeks to reduce friction between purchases made within the app and the logistics operation required after the sale. The service's current policy allows requesting the return of most eligible products up to 30 days after delivery.
