Rockstar Games confirmed this Tuesday (3) that the pre-download of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) will begin on November 10 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Players who purchased the title in advance will be able to download the files before the official release, scheduled for November 19, 2026. Installation may require up to 212 GB of free space, depending on the console.

The announcement sets different times for each platform. On PlayStation 5, preloading will begin at midnight on November 10, based on each region's local time. On Xbox Series X|S, the preload will be released simultaneously worldwide, at midnight Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). This means that Xbox players in Brazil will be able to start the download at 9 p.m. on November 9, Brasília time.

According to Rockstar, the 212 GB represents the maximum space that may be required for preloading, not a mandatory size for all versions. The developer recommends checking available storage before starting the process.

The ability to download the files in advance does not change the release date. The content will remain installed on the console, but access to the game will depend on the official release on November 19.

Boxed editions will not have a disc

Another detail confirmed by Rockstar involves the versions sold in physical packaging. Boxed editions will be available starting November 12, but will not include a disc with the game. Instead, buyers will receive a code to redeem the digital version.

With the code activated, it will be possible to download GTA 6 before launch, as long as the edition is already available for redemption.

To make the process easier, the developer advises players to enable automatic downloads. On PS5, the console must remain on or in rest mode. On Xbox Series X|S, it will be necessary to keep automatic updates enabled and the device on or in sleep mode.

Rockstar also announced that on November 19 it will make available for free a printable digital version of the GTA 6 cover art accompanied by the map of Leonida, the fictional region where the game is set.
