The Binance began the transfer of crypto assets from the Funding Account to the Spot Account on Tuesday (29), in a reorganization expected to end in January 2027. At the end of the process, the account will be renamed Stocks Account, dedicated to settling stock and options trades.
The change centralizes crypto assets in the Spot Account and separates operations with traditional assets. The Funding Account has already stopped accepting deposits directly via the blockchain.
The future Stocks Account will work with six settlement assets: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U and BNB. Users will be able to perform the transfer in advance through a one-click migration feature. Remaining balances will be migrated automatically in batches starting in January 2027.
According to Binance, the procedure will not require mandatory actions from customers nor alter their total balances.
Change also affects payments and P2P operations
Since September 29, amounts received through Binance Pay, Binance Card and gift cards have been credited directly to the Spot Account. Binance Convert also adopted this account to settle new orders.
The Funding Account will remain temporarily available as a payment source. Users with recurring transfers linked exclusively to it will need to configure another source before deactivation. API integrations will also need to be updated.
In the P2P, regular users will now use the Spot Account as the default source after the app update. Advertisers will remain in the Funding Account until December 2026, when the creation of a specific account for these operations is expected.
Ads not transferred to the new structure will be automatically closed after January 2027.
The final transformation into Stocks Account is expected in January, with no exact date yet. The availability of stock and options services will remain subject to regional restrictions.
