Anthropic launched on Wednesday (2) a ready-made framework for companies to create artificial intelligence agents focused on e-commerce with Claude. The initiative includes models for serving consumers and managing store operations, as well as collaboration with companies such as Shopify, Visa, Mastercard and Accenture.
The so-called commerce agents blueprint brings together code, implementation patterns and security mechanisms that can be adapted by retailers. According to Anthropic, the framework aims to allow teams to get commercial agents up and running in a few days.
Claude now works from products to cart
The company presented two main models. The first is a shopping agent, integrated into the store's website or app. It can search for products in the catalog, recommend options based on conversation context, remember customer preferences and add items to the cart before sending them to checkout.
The second is a agent for merchants, aimed at the teams responsible for operations. It can answer questions about sales and inventory, identify problems and suggest actions related to prices, promotions and marketing campaigns.

Shopify, Visa and Mastercard join the initiative
Shopify is preparing a public implementation based on the new framework, allowing stores to connect the agents to their catalog data. Visa, Mastercard and Accenture are also among the companies that plan to use the new models in solutions aimed at customers and merchant networks.
The agents can be customized with different Anthropic tools, including the Messages API, the Agent SDK and Claude Managed Agents, currently in beta.
With the initiative, Anthropic expands Claude's presence in the so-called agentic commerce, in which AI systems no longer just answer questions and instead perform steps of a purchase or directly assist in a retailer's operation.
